While in Victoria, you'll have a vast array of activities to choose from – including the world famous Butchart Gardens founded in 1904. You can take a tour bus from downtown Victoria for the 14-mile distance to the Gardens. From the exquisite Sunken Garden (once a limestone quarry) to the charming Rose, Japanese and Stalion gardens, this 50-acre showplace still maintains the gracious traditions of the past.

The Royal B.C. museum is located in the Inner Harbor area downtown. The well-designed museum offers something for everyone. Also located in the Inner Harbor is the grand old Empress Hotel; be sure to browse thru the many intriguing shops and perhaps linger awhile to enjoy High Tea.

Other interesting parts of Victoria's history include the Craigdarroch Castle built in the late 1800's by Robert Dunsmuir, a Scottish immigrant who made his fortune from Vancouver Island coal. Victoria's Royal London Wax Museum and the Pacific Undersea Gardens are other attractions worthy of note.

For an unusual way to see Victoria without taking your car, consider Tally-Ho Horse Drawn Carriage Tours. This is Victoria's original horse-drawn tour company, founded in 1903.

Remember; Victoria is located in a foreign country. If you are a U.S. or Canadian citizen age 19 and older, you must present either a valid passport or proof of citizenship (such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate), along with a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license) as proof of identity traveling between Canada and the US through sea ports of entry. U.S. Customs phone # is 360-457-1221.
